About Larchline
A local news site and monthly podcast, published from Alexandria and reporting across Glengarry County and the lower Ottawa Valley.
Who we are
Larchline started as a small article archive covering council meetings and community notices around Alexandria, and grew into a combined news site and monthly podcast once readers asked for audio alongside the written coverage. The masthead rail at the top of this site marks each year Larchline has published in, from our first volume through to the current one.
The site is operating as EVOLVING MEDIA & DESIGN INC., the registered company behind Larchline. Day-to-day, editorial and advertising are run as two separate lines of work: the people who write and record the coverage are not the same people who confirm an advertising booking, and sponsorship of a segment or a page never changes what gets reported.
We keep the operation modest on purpose. A county-wide paper works because it's read by people who know the places it covers, and we'd rather stay useful to Glengarry than expand past what we can report on properly.
What we ask advertisers to bring
Booking a placement is simple, but a few things speed it up considerably. Before your run starts, have these ready:
A logo file (PNG or vector) if your placement includes one
One line of copy for archive-page placements
A short script for review, for any host read
A billing contact and preferred payment method

What we do
The site is organized as an ongoing archive — every article and every podcast episode is filed under the year it ran, and readers can browse back through it using the rail at the top of the page. Advertising sits alongside that archive rather than interrupting it.

- Then and Now: Glengarry sponsorship
A credit and host read on our recurring local-history segment.
- Growth Rings Package
A combined two-month presence across the site and the podcast.

Who provides the work
Larchline is run by a small, fixed team rather than freelancers rotating through — the same people handle reporting, production and advertising bookings from one run to the next, which keeps facts, tone and figures consistent across the site.
Editorial
Reporting lead
Assigns and edits the news coverage across Glengarry, and keeps the archive filed and current.
Audio
Podcast producer
Records and edits the monthly episodes, including Then and Now: Glengarry and sponsor reads.
Advertising
Placements coordinator
Handles bookings, artwork updates and the closing summaries sent at the end of each run.
Operations
Office administration
Manages billing, scheduling and general enquiries out of the Alexandria office.
How we work
Approach
Coverage is reported first, then filed to the year it belongs in — the archive is the point, not a one-off post.
Quality control
Every placement is checked against the run dates and deliverables agreed at booking before it goes live.
Communication
One point of contact through a booking, from confirmation to the closing summary.
